In 1903, Félix Vallotton displayed some more paintings in an exhibition of the Vienna Secession, which were praised by Ferdinand Hodler and Gustav Klimt. One year later, Félix Vallotton displayed his paintings in an exhibition of Berliner Secession. He achieved the much required financially stability after his marriage with the sister of the gallery owner Gabrielle Rodrigues-Henriques in 1899 as a freelance painter. In 1897, Félix Vallotton started working for the magazine Cris de Paris, for which he frequently illustrated cover pages. In this academy Félix Vallotton got acquainted with representatives of Symbolism and with the artists group Nabis Edouard Vuillard and Pierre Bonnard were also members of this group.
